Windows Live Spaces url forwarding still working

  1. It is a long time ago that I migrated my blog from Windows Live Spaces to WordPress.
  2. It appeared to me recently that the URL forwarding from the original web pages to WordPress which was part of the migration package that Microsoft offered, had stopped working – regrettably, since I still have old documents pointing to the original pages, and the cryptic URL naming scheme seems to make it difficult to find out where the original ULR pointed to.
  3. However, it seems that only some forwarding stopped working. If I reformat URL format 1 (which redirects to the WordPress homepage) to format 2, the forward still works:

Blog table of contents to sort through 1200+ articles

This platform needs a better search/sort/filter – Excel Web App to the rescue: Here tags and categories are sorted alphabetically, allowing for and-searches, while the Excel advanced filters enables more sophisticated or-Searches. No search can be better than the metadata inputted, to clean that up, authenticated users can click the edit- or (make shift) daylink.

Windows Live Writer can once again load more than 500 WordPress posts without “Invalid Server Response”

Version (recently updated – thank you! This bug bugged me a lot, I am chatty):Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3522.110). Not sure it is not server-related, but consider upgrading on download.live.com if you still see this error on the metaWeblog.getRecentPosts from XmlRpc server: image

Best way I found to merge WordPress.com tags

image

I am talking about merging spurious variant tags into one canonical form. This is a workaround for the fact that you cannot just update when the update could require wordpress.com to merge the article set form the old tag into an existing article set under the new tag. The work around involves accessing  the spurious tags from the admin / tags interface (window on the right); then opening the "posts" for each spurious tag in a new window. In the posts window to the left, do the "quick edit". I tried saving myself some deleting in the left window by, after opening the left window, deleting the tag in the right window; but the old tag has already been preloaded for the Quick edit into the left window . Well, Quick edit makes it pretty painless. Is a global search/replace for wordpress.com conceivable? Warning: Don’t hit "Edit" after deleting  the tag and try to go back – you will have to hunt for your posts manually.

How my documentation blog is developing

My thank-you for over 100,000 views…

LRC Calendars setup, documentation and training

I have written dozens of posts on the MS-Exchange/Outlook/OWA/Ninermail calendaring system that I set up for room reservation, equipment circulation, and staff timetabling in the LRC, the most recent 50 of which you also can view here – which should display like below in Firefox feed display. If you use Internet Explorer which has a nicer RSS feed display, you get to a list of articles where you cannot only browse, but search within the search results:
